Let me be ME

I’m looking for an outlet.

The place were my words are free

I need my feelings to be heard

My thoughts to be safe

I need that comfort

That lovers have

The knowing feeling you get

When you let go of balance

When you forget to tell your heart to beat

Your feet move in the path you’ve outlined

I want to be able to not have to

Micromanage

Give me the freedom to be

Free

To get out of bed

And be a bum with out

Thoughts forming on what I do

Who I am

Where I go

When I talk

What I say

How I am me.

Be my outlet

Be my free space

Tell me no lies

Introductions

You know those feelings you get when you meet someone new...

Those 2-5 seconds gaze in their eyes...

They say the eyes are the key to the soul...

Introductions are sweet, I had one of those real recent...

I put it in a piece titled... "New Beginnings"

"Its heavy in the air…
As she emerges from the depths of winters soul,
New beginnings “Spring” to life,
I feel her on the hairs of my skin,
Memories come to shore from within
And at that very moment, like a déjà vu,
In my eyes, I’ve come to notice you.

A sweet introduction,
Extension of my hand,
Hoping I catch the sensation of your soul,
Echoes of elegant jazz come forth,
Like a babies first grasp of a mothers fingers,
Our clasp of bodily flesh lingers,
All thoughts escape,
Eyes caught in a sensual gaze into lovely brown eyed stars,
And here I am entranced in euphoria ,
Smiling all for yah,
Feeling like I’m on Mars,
Seems like the world around us is oh so very distant,
You’ve eclipsed all that would distract ,
And this simple handshake has us in a mural,
Of natures painting…abstract.

And all of five seconds is up,
Parting to our separate paths
Until next time…
For I'm praying that your hand
And the echoes of the smooth jazz band…
Stay longer…"

I'm a Dreamer

Standing hear

Saying these words to you

Is not my destiny

I’m not hear by default

It’s my dream

I’ll stand up for it

Run tell that

Let His will be done

The will that He gave me

The drive that He drove to me

The light in my eyes

Its mine

I wake up to it

Like a flame at my back

Rest is for the weak

Strength comes and goes

There are no days off

When you realize tomorrow

Isn’t the same as today

The days of the week will come faithfully

Hold on to faith if you want

Till your faith is no more

This is why me standing here

Is not my destiny

And I’ll keep dreaming

Keep setting my site higher then the ever rising sun

Don’t tell me

You have lost your ambition

Stand with me

Stand and speak your dreams

Let the letters run out like water

Form them into words

Situate them into sentences

That will dance to the ears of another

So that they can run tell that.

Long Time Coming

 

I go by Roxy!

I am a Psychology major with a minor in foundation of special education. My plans for life are fairly simple. I am interested in becoming a school counselor, for those children who need that extra support system. Because if you believe it or remember “the children are our future”, and I would love to be apart of the future.

This is a piece I wrote entitled “Long Time Coming”.

It’s been a long time coming

and the sun is a long ways away

but the sole of my feet

won’t let me be beat

ill keep pushing

keep the fire strong

tell my inner me that

it’s been a long time coming

and we can’t rest for child’s play

ill be the guiding light

turn my flame on high

because they are watching me

just as you should be watching you

guiding each step

tracing out the land

shoving your self into the unknown

the end is a long ways away

but the beginning has come and gone

keep that fire strong

don’t let the

whoop and holler

burn you out

because the sole of your feet won’t be beat

when you remember it’s been a long time coming

I'm an African American Studies Major...changing the world a day at time...

I believe in order to know who you are you must first define yourself from where you came from...educate yourself of your past.  To include, culture gives us identity, purpose and direction.  "Know Thyself then we can define ourselves as a whole."

i am the dreamer in the night of day

i am the happiness in gloom of sorrow

i am hope, in the midst of dread and wretchedness's glory
